Remember – Part 2

I normally post every other Tuesday, but last week I had such a long list of books to suggest that it became necessary to do a second installment before Memorial Day.

Songbird Under a German Moon by Tricia Goyer

The year is 1945. The war is over and 21-year-old Betty Lake has been invited to Europe to sing in a USO tour for American soldiers who now occupy Hitler’s Germany. The first night’s performance is a hit. Betty becomes enthralled with the applause, the former Nazi-held mansion they’re housed in, and the attention of Frank Witt, the US Army Signal Corp Photographer. Yet the next night this songbird is ready to fly the coop when Betty’s  dear friend, Kat, turns up missing. Betty soon realizes Franks photographs could be the key to finding Kat. Betty and Frank team up against post-war Nazi influences and the two lovebirds hearts may find the answers…in each other. But will they have a chance for their romance to sing? The truth will be revealed under a German moon.

Swiss Courier by Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey

Working as a Swiss transcriptionist for the Americans during WWII, Gabi Mueller’s life changes overnight when she’s recruited as a spy for the precursor of the CIA. Asked to safely courier a German physicist working on the budding Nazi atomic bomb project to the Swiss border, Gabi feels the weight of the war on her shoulders. But who can she trust?

Task Force Valor series – Allah’s Fire, Island Inferno, Melt Down by Chuck Holton

Written by a former Army Ranger, these three books involve a special Explosive Ordinance Disposal team fighting to keep new terrorist weapons from our shores. I’ve read and enjoyed the first two, have not gotten to the third yet–but I will.

The Navy Justice series – Treason, Hostage, Defiance, Black Sea Affair by Don Brown

If you liked the JAG series on television, you’ll love these books from a former military lawyer. Both in and out of the courtroom, JAG Officer  Zack Brewer fights terrorists infiltrating our military, kidnapping his lady love, and threatening to blow up the world. I haven’t read the fourth book yet, but highly recommend the first three.

Uncommon Heroes Series – True Devotion, True Valor, True Honor by Dee Henderson

Strong Naval heroes, plucky heroines, action-packed and romantic–typical Dee Henderson.

The Homeland Heroes series – Wounded Healer by Donna Fleisher

Two women.  A friendship forged in war, destroyed by a dark secret. Now one’s fear of God and the other’s faith in Him collide in a different kind of war – and only one of them can win. I just finished this first wonderful novel in the series about two medics, veterans of Desert Storm.

Some novels to look forward to shortly:

Discarded Heroes series – Nightshade  by Ronie Kendig – To be released in another month

Soldiers all across the globe are returning home to their families after brutal tours of duty. They are discharged from the service. . .and on their own. Meet Max Jacobs, one of these discarded heroes, as he faces a wall of failure—in his career, his friendships, and his marriage. Failing again—this time to end his life—he is offered a thread of hope. Are covert government operations the answer for him, or will they only bring more danger and dissension upon his broken family?

Refining Fires by Erin Rainwater – to be released in late June or July

A disfigured Korean War veteran. A ruined nurse. A tormented child. A kept woman. Strangers whose paths cross, bringing redemption into each other’s lives in ways none of them could have predicted.

The Cool Woman by John Aubrey Anderson – coming out in June

The story of a Vietnam pilot’s downward spiral. I understand the title is the name of the plane – cool!

Enjoy these books and remember those who have given all.
