At odds over their beliefs and separated by the war, Molly and Stefan must learn to depend on God.
This is my first time to read a Martha Rogers historical. Love Never Fails is the third book in The Homeward Journey series.
The families of Stefan Elliott and Molly Whiteman have been friends since the mothers were growing up. When the Louisiana Elliott’s visit the Texas Whitemans, Molly isn’t expecting to see the boy she remembered from childhood since he’s now a military officer in Arizona. After being injured, Stefan recuperates at his parents’ home and accompanies his family to Texas, surprising Molly and himself by discovering a mutual attraction.
Growing up on stories from the Civil War, Molly is completely against killing and the use of weapons to settle differences. While she’s attracted to Stefan, it becomes an issue between them. Tragedy and fear have the potential to bring them together.
This is a sweet love story between two people who must learn that it’s not a perfect world, nor does love demand perfection.
Frankly, I found much of the first half of this book to be nice but not particularly eventful. Around the halfway point, the story became more compelling. There wasn’t anything shocking about the second half, but I enjoyed it.
I’m suspecting this isn’t Ms. Rogers’ best, but I considered it an uplifting, pleasant read—good for a snowy or rainy afternoon by the fire. And I will read more of hers in the future.
Disclosure of Material Connection: This book came to me free from the author and the publisher, Realms, with the hope that I would mention it on this blog.
