Wow! Yes, No One to Trust is one of those “wow” stories. The first novel in Lynette Eason’s new Hidden Identity series starts out with a bang—almost literally.

I’ve read a few of Ms. Eason’s novels, and while I’ve certainly enjoyed and recommended them, I believe this is my favorite so far. Its fast pace and suspense kept me turning the pages well after my bedtime. That’s saying something, because I like my sleep.

The life Summer has been living turns upside down when her husband Kyle disappears. The reader feels for her as she’s suddenly thrown into a dangerous circumstance due to a man who lied to her when he promised he’d never lie to her. Soon, his training and special skills will be the only things keeping her alive.

While fighting to save the lives of himself and his wife, “Kyle” also fights to save his marriage to a woman whose anger matches that of the organized crime boss who is after them. Ms. Eason did a fine job in taking a man we should be as angry with as Summer is and turning him into a hero we want to support in his quest.

Then there’s the bad guy in this story. He is truly evil and revels in using his pets as weapons against those who disappoint him. Eww…

They face the possibility of betrayal on all sides, beginning with those tasked with the job of protecting them. It’s easy to understand why the title is No One to Trust. And just when you think it may be over…nah. By the way, there’s a fun little surprise at the end, one that’s so well disguised within the action, I did not see it coming.

I can’t say for a fact who the heroes are in the rest of the series, but I believe we’re given good insight into them in this book. But if those men don’t have their own stories, they should.

If you’re already a fan of Lynette Eason’s romantic suspense, you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t read her books before, well…this is a good, introductory choice.
