I was reading about the recent death of children’s writer Barbara Park. She wrote the Junie B. Jones books. Although I’ve never read them (maybe my daughter has), they’re certainly familiar to me. One article I read said she credited Judy Blume with being her inspiration when it came to writing children’s humor. Anyway, it got me thinking about how so many of us discover our love for reading when we’re children.

When my kids were small, I read mostly devotionals because that’s all I had time or energy to read. When I stopped working outside the home, I started devouring Dee Henderson’s books.
