Have You Received a Word of Hope?

With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Mark 10:27 (NIV)

At the beginning of last year it was popular to choose one word to describe a person’s attitude for the upcoming year. It may have been perseverance, healthy, successful…whatever. Late bloomer that I am, I didn’t get wind of this trend until late into January. So this year I decided to get on the ball and come up with my own word for the year 2013. I’m calling it my Hope word.

In my recent Bible reading, I’ve come across some version of the above verse three times. In context, both Mark and Luke recounted what Jesus said about being saved. We cannot save ourselves. Only God can save us. The third version came from the angel Gabriel when he told Mary of her upcoming pregnancy and Elizabeth’s expected child. She wanted to know how that could be and he told her, “For nothing is impossible with God.”

It is not a statement to gloss over. It is one to put to memory and drag out whenever we feel as though we’re standing next to a mountain that hinders us from passing into the beautiful valley on the other side. With God everything is possible, even moving that mountain.

Our thinking and our abilities are finite. But with God, they are infinite. He sees the whole picture. Knowing that should bring every Christian hope. He can turn the impossible into the possible if that’s what He wills.

So my Hope word is possible. With God all things in my personal and writing life are possible, even when I think I’ve run into the side of a mountain.

What is your hope word for 2013?

Happy New Year to Everyone!

    Hi Sandy,
I’ve done the word for the year for the last several years. My word for this year is “trust.”. It’s an appropriate word as my husband & I have some situations (financial) to adjust to and some decisions to make.

    Hope you are doing well!
