September 2018 Around the Web

Sandra Ardoin @SandraArdoin

Where did September go? There’s nothing like an extended vacation to flip the pages of a calendar.

The Around the Web list is a little shorter this month, but I hope you find something encouraging and informative from the posts below that will begin your month of October on the right footing.

INSPIRATION:

I don’t know about you, but when things are bustling, I can get downright tired—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I enjoyed this post on the Woman to Woman blog, “Feeling Weary? Here’s Strength For You” by Sarah Geringer.

This is the season of “Beautiful Fall Leaves” and slowing down to enjoy God’s creation. The post on the Inspire A Fire blog also puts forth an inspirational idea for something unique to do with those leaves that fall.

READING:

In case you don’t have enough to topple your TBR stack, here is a list of recently-released books from the Love, Faith, and Hope Chapter of Romance Writers of America.

Like other artists, we writers enjoy recognizing jobs well done. This past Saturday was the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers) gala, a time when awards are handed out for novels judged to be some of the best published the previous year or some of the best yet to be published. As a reader, it’s possible that one of your favorite authors/books were recognized. Here are the winners for the Carol Award for published novels and the Genesis Award for unpublished works.

WRITING:

I haven’t done much public speaking, but I have done some. Even though what I say is honest, I’ll admit I’ve been inadvertently guilty of a couple of these points listed in the “Top 5 Public Speaking Behaviors that Can Make You Appear Dishonest” post from The Book Designer blog.

Because the posts and books we read about writing tend to be SERIOUS, I thought you might enjoy “Writers Jokes – Fun Fridays – September 21, 2018” on the Steve Laube Agency blog and “Especially For Writers” on Linda W. Yezak’s blog.

Are you an indie author who needs those editorial reviews to fill out your Amazon page? Then you might find some helpful ideas on where to find them from Traci Tyne Hilton’s post on the The Write Conversation.

Are there any September posts you want to share?

Hey, y’all, are you ready to begin your Christmas reading? You still have a couple of days to pick this one up at the pre-order price. The price goes up after the release date, so don’t wait!
